Texas Tech law students and the general public had the opportunity to view the Seventh Court of Appeals, which usually presides in Amarillo, in action on April 3, 2019. Oral arguments were heard in four cases, with seven Texas Tech law alumni arguing before the court.
The court, which consists of Chief Justice Brian Quinn and Justices James T. Campbell, Patrick A. Pirtle, and Judy Parker, has intermediate appellate jurisdiction of civil and criminal cases appealed from lower courts in 46 Texas counties.
Chief Justice Quinn ’81 and Justices Pirtle ’77 and Parker ’85 earned their juris doctorates from the Texas Tech School of Law. Justices Campbell and Pirtle also earned their bachelor’s degrees from Texas Tech University.
