Professor Emeritus Annette Marple passed away on September 16, 2018.
One of only eight female students in her law class, Marple graduated with honors from Texas Tech Law School in 1973. While in law school, she served as comment editor of the Texas Tech Law Review and was selected by her classmates for the coveted Dupree Award.
Within a few months of her graduation, she began a 19-year career as one of the law school’s most respected faculty members. Marple taught property, Texas marital property, wills, and trusts until her retirement in 1992. In addition to her teaching duties, she also served as associate dean and long-time chair of the admissions committee.
During her time on the Texas Tech law faculty, she witnessed a significant increase in the number of female law students and served as a role model for all of those she taught. You can find her obituary here.
