February 2017

National Moot team

3Ls Erin Garza, Ashleigh Hammer, and David Miles, finished as National Semifinalists at the National Moot Court Competition in New York City. After winning a trip to nationals last November at the regional tournament in Houston, the trio went orally undefeated in New York, beating the University of Kansas, Washington & Lee, Mississippi College, and Stetson College of Law, before falling in the Final Four to Ohio State. The team won the round orally, but was edged out by Ohio State’s No. 2 brief score, which counted for 40% of the round’s total score.

This marks the sixth time since 2010 a Tech Law team has been among the last four teams standing at the 175+ team competition, which is the oldest moot court contest in the country.
