After a hard-won fight at the Texas Legislature led by the Honorable Alvin R. Allison, former Texas House Representative and Texas Tech University graduate, the doors of Texas Tech Law opened in 1967 with 72 students and Dean Richard Amandes at the helm.
When that first class graduated in 1970 and took the July bar exam, Texas Tech Law earned its first 100 percent bar passage rate. Since then, the Law School has enjoyed a consistently high pass rate on the State Bar Exam. We graduated more than 8,000 students, including the first woman to head a major federal-law enforcement agency, the Army’s highest-ranking legal officer, general counsels of corporations, elected officials, state and federal judges, and some of the nation’s top litigators.
With quality students, talented faculty and a devoted staff, the Law School continues to produce lawyers who are respected, proven, and professional.
On September 30, we’ll kickoff our yearlong 50th Anniversary celebration during the Annual Alumni BBQ. Join alumni and friends of the law school for game-day comfort food, a photo booth, and music three hours before the TTU vs. OSU football game! RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
